FIFA 23: FUT Hero Völler becomes "The Flying German"

On Friday (19.08.) EA SPORTS presented all FUT Heroes for FIFA 23 Ultimate Team (FUT) as part of the Marvel Crossover, and the ratings have also been communicated.

We already reported on Wednesday that according to the latest leaks, Rudi Völler is to receive a superhuman alter ego as a FUT Hero in FIFA 23. Two days later, EA SPORTS has already presented the entire promo - it is in fact led by the 1990s world champion. In the context of the Marvel crossover, Völler was stylized as "The Flying German" by their artists. His FUT Heroes World Cup Edition card will have an overall rating of 91 points, only rivaled by Diego Forlán. Shot (94), Speed (91) and Dribbling (90) are his strongest core stats.

However, Völler is not represented as a FUT Hero in FIFA 23 by a Bundesliga club, but by AS Roma. This is evident from the Serie A logo that adorns the object of the former national coach. Only Lucio (90) is officially counted in the Bundesliga, the Brazilian becomes "The Thunder". Nevertheless, there are a few other ex-Bundesliga professionals among the superhero special cards: Jean-Pierre Papin (90), Jay-Jay Okocha (89), Landon Donovan (88) and Wlodzimierz Smolarek (88). For the latter, EA SPORTS chose the father, whose son Euzebiusz was also active in the top German division.

After the aforementioned Völler, Forlán, Lucio and Papin, Yaya Touré (89) as "The Citadel", Javier Mascherano (89) as "Octo-Boss", Ricardo Carvalho (89) as "The Anticipator", Tomas Brolin follow in the value ranking (89) as "The Tornado" and Rafael Márquez (89) as "El Kaiser de Michoacán". The FUT Heroes promotion including Marvel cooperation could be a first hint towards the future that EA SPORTS is aiming for for its football simulations after the separation from FIFA in the coming year.
